About Timberjack
Wesley Maggill and Robert Simons once had an idea. They sat down and sketched a design for a unique kind of forestry vehicle. It was an articulated four-wheel drive tractor with a winch mounted on the rear.
Maggill and Simons built a prototype of their new machine and it proved successful. They formed Timberjack in Brantford, Ontario in the 1950s to produce it. The vehicle sold well and established Timberjack as a player in the forestry equipment industry.
The company developed many other machines over the years. But Wesley Maggill and Robert Simons faded into the background. The Eaton Corporation bought Timberjack in the 1960s and renamed it the Forestry Equipment Division. Almost 30 years later, Timberjack asserted independence through a leveraged buyout. But it was short-lived. A Finnish company acquired Timberjack a few years later.
John Deere bought the company in 2000. It discontinued the Timberjack product line in 2006.
The company used a distinctive red-orange color for its products for many years. In 1992, it changed to green with black and yellow trim.
Timberjack Undercarriage Parts
In its heyday, Timberjack made popular models of harvesters, skidders, and feller bunchers. Many models, such as the 608 or 850 tracked feller bunchers, are still in use on job sites today. You probably have a few in your fleet.
All equipment succumbs to wear and tear and needs new parts. Vista Equipment stocks durable, high-quality undercarriage components to keep your fleet running.
